MACA hosted two separate CAC/MDT Training Summits in 2023. These trainings are specifically geared towards Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) staff and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) members. forensic interviewers, law enforcement (local along with state, prosecutors, victim/witness advocates, DCF, mental health, and medical professionals. These summits provide the most up-to-date information, practices, and training from child advocacy professionals.
The first training summit of 2023 was held on March 9th in Westborough, MA. Workshop topics included the application of trauma-informed practice for the MDT, the transformation of the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), how the Massachusetts response became a model for the country, and re-aligning new team members to the MDT.
Our second training summit was hosted on November 15th in Framingham, MA. Workshop topics included best practices in victim-centered care with CSEC survivors, investigation and prosecutive processes of sextortion and other forms of image-based sexual abuse, and building a resilient MDT.
CAC staff and MDT members from across the state get to collaborate alongside one another. Our Training Summits often serve as a support system for child advocacy professionals to validate their work, the obstacles they face, and the support they need to do their job.
